The Dash 8 is Maxxiom’s larger transportable solar power system: everything the Dash 5 does, scaled up for higher-demand sites. An 8 kVA inverter, double the storage at 20 kWh, a 32 A primary output – all on the same compact, road-registerable trailer that tows behind a standard vehicle and deploys in minutes. Solar and battery carry the load; the built-in 6 kVA auto-start generator is there purely as backup.

Why Choose the Dash 8 over the Dash 5
More headroom, same footprint8 kVA and 15 kW peak on the same compact trailer platform – more site, same tow vehicle.
Double the overnight buffer18 kWh usable versus 9 kWh – 36 hours at 0.5 kW. Longer nights, more buildings, fewer generator starts.
32 A primary outputFeed a bigger site distribution board directly, not just a couple of demountables.
Solar-first, generator-backedA solar and battery plant with a generator as backup – not a generator with solar assistance like most hybrid units.
Proven platformSame Dash architecture that cut construction fuel use 100% over six months and recorded zero generator runtime in enforced quiet hours.

Industries and Applications We Power
Civil & constructionLarger site offices, amenities, lighting, comms and surveillance on one trailer.
Construction power.
Government & council operationsTemporary facilities, community hubs, roadworks and field operations.
Remote communitiesInterim or supplementary power for community facilities and infrastructure works.
Farming & remote operationsSheds, pumping, yards and processing where the grid never reached.
3-bedroom off-grid homesTransportable whole-home power where a fixed installation is not appropriate.
For Government, Councils and Large Organisations
The Dash 8 is the higher-capacity trailer for councils, agencies and Tier 1 contractors – when one deployment has to carry a whole site. Australian made in Brisbane, road-registerable, GPS-tracked, with full procurement documentation.
★ A generator is only as good as its fuel supplyAnd a disaster is exactly when the fuel supply breaks: roads cut, service stations unpowered, fuel rationed to emergency services. The Dash 8 refuels itself from the sun every day, with nobody driving anywhere – and still carries a generator as backup.
Pre-position a response fleetStage trailers before cyclone season – charged, GPS-tracked and ready to tow, with each unit’s state of charge visible before dispatch.
Silent in an evacuation centreLighting, resident phone charging, cold chain and comms – without a generator droning through the night where people are sleeping.
Documented savingsThe Dash platform delivered 100% fuel reduction over six months, $136/day, 1.62 tonnes of CO2 avoided monthly, and zero generator runtime in enforced quiet hours.
Modular means redundancySeveral trailers across several sites beats one large unit at one site – servicing one never takes the response offline.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Dash 8 and the Dash 5?
Same trailer platform and the same 4.08 kW solar array. The Dash 8 has a larger 8 kVA inverter (versus 5 kVA), double the battery at 20 kWh (versus 10 kWh), 15 kW peak and a 32 A primary output instead of 15 A. Choose the Dash 8 when one trailer has to carry a bigger site.
How quickly can it be deployed?
Minutes. It is road-registerable, tows behind a standard vehicle, and connects straight into site distribution once the solar array is oriented. No crane, no float, no special licence.
What can the Dash 8 power?
With 8 kVA and a 32 A primary output it suits a full site office complex, amenities, lighting, communications and surveillance, or a 3-bedroom off-grid dwelling. 18 kWh usable gives around 36 hours at a steady 0.5 kW.
What happens at night or in bad weather?
The battery carries the site overnight. If storage will not last, the energy management system starts the built-in 6 kVA generator, recharges, then shuts it down – and it can be locked out of enforced quiet hours entirely.
Is it solar with a generator, or a generator with solar?
Solar and battery first, generator as backup. That is the opposite of most hybrid gensets on the market, which are fundamentally a generator with solar assistance – and it is why the Dash platform recorded 100% fuel reduction over six months on a real deployment.
Can the battery be expanded?
Yes – additional 5 kWh batteries take it to 30 kWh in total, and an additional MPPT charge controller can be added via the expansion kit.
What are the trailer dimensions?
Please refer to the datasheet for confirmed transport and deployed dimensions. The Dash 8 shares the compact Dash trailer platform; the Dash 5 measures W 2050 x L 3750 x H 3000 mm in transport and W 3800 x L 4850 x H 2600 mm deployed.
Is it suitable for emergency and disaster response?
Yes – it is a hero product for it. No fuel resupply required when roads are cut, deploys in minutes, silent for evacuation centres, and GPS-tracked so a council can see each unit’s location and charge before dispatch. Many organisations stage them before cyclone season.
Can I hire rather than buy?
Talk to us about your project. We work with hire fleets and rental companies, and can discuss arrangements to suit the deployment.
Do you supply to government, councils and large organisations?
Yes. We deliver to councils, agencies, Tier 1 contractors and hire fleets with full procurement documentation: capability statement, quality management system, environmental statement, battery emergency response plan, SWMS and risk assessments, plus engineering documentation and commissioning reports.
