The Mastiff MK II is Maxxiom’s flagship off-grid solar system for home – built for full-size households, remote communities and sites that simply cannot run short of power. A 10 kVA inverter, 25 kWh of lithium storage expandable to 50 kWh, and up to 13.2 kW of solar across four MPPT controllers. Can the Mastiff run a whole off-grid house?
Yes – that is what it is built for. The 10 kVA inverter with 32 A primary and auxiliary outputs handles a 3-bedroom-plus household including air-conditioning, electric cooking, laundry and a workshop, with 22.5 kWh usable storage for overnight.
Can it run air-conditioning?
Yes. With 10 kVA nominal (5,700 VA continuous at 40°C) and 15 kW peak, ducted or multiple split systems are within scope. Air-conditioning is a heavy daily load though, so size the solar and battery accordingly – our
sizing calculator will show the daily energy impact.
How much solar does the Mastiff need?
Up to 30 panels (440-510 W each) for 13.2 kW across four MPPT controllers, ideally split east, north and west so generation is spread across the whole day rather than peaking at noon.
How far can the battery be expanded?
From 25 kWh to 50 kWh using the Mastiff battery expansion cabinet (5 kWh modules). Additional external MPPT charge controllers can also be added.
What is the difference between the Mastiff and the Blue Heeler ‘EX’?
The Mastiff doubles the inverter (10 kVA vs 5 kVA), adds 32 A outputs, takes 13.2 kW of solar versus 5.2 kW, and starts at 25 kWh expandable to 50 kWh. Choose the EX for a 2-3 bedroom home; choose the Mastiff for a full-size home, community facility or high-demand site.
Do you supply to government, councils and remote communities?
Yes – it is a core part of our work. We have delivered off-grid and transportable power to Indigenous community housing, regional community infrastructure, government projects and civil contractors, with full procurement documentation, Licensed Electrical Contracting (QLD/NSW/NT) and comprehensive insurance. Can you supply multiple units for a community project?
Yes, and it is often the better engineering answer. At Langarra we supplied ten modular units rather than one centralised system – removing the need for cranes and barges, coming in under budget, and ensuring servicing one unit never takes the whole community offline.
What happens when storage runs low?
Two things. The system sheds non-critical loads on the auxiliary output to protect essentials, and the built-in generator auto-start fires the generator to recharge, then shuts it down – all without anyone intervening.
Can I monitor it without internet or mobile coverage?
Yes. 4G monitoring is included for 12 months where there is coverage, but the Maxxiom Peer-to-Peer Wireless Display talks directly to the system with no internet or cellular at all – built for genuinely remote sites.
What warranty and support come with it?
Five years on power equipment and ten years on the battery. Because we manufacture in Brisbane, support, servicing and spare parts come from us – including remote-area service planning.
