One stainless steel cabinet holds the 5 kVA inverter, 10 kWh lithium battery and dual MPPT solar charging – hard-wire it to the building, connect your panels, and you have silent, fuel-free power around the clock, with generator auto-start standing by for long stretches of bad weather.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Blue Heeler MK II big enough to run a tiny home?
Yes – it is designed exactly for that. The 5 kVA inverter comfortably runs lights, fridge, TV, laptops, water pump and washing machine, with 9 kWh of usable battery for overnight. For heavy air-conditioning or a larger home, consider the Blue Heeler ‘EX’ or Mastiff MK II.
How many solar panels does it need?
We recommend 12 x 440 W panels (about 5.2 kW) across its dual MPPT inputs. That is roughly 26 square metres of roof or ground-mount area, facing north to north-west for the best result.
What happens during long periods of bad weather?
The Blue Heeler includes a 15 A generator inlet with 2-wire auto-start. If the battery runs low during extended cloud, it starts your generator automatically, recharges, then shuts it off – you do not have to do anything.
How long does the battery last overnight?
With 9 kWh usable, typical overnight loads (fridge, lights, electronics at around 0.4 kW) run for well over a full night. At a constant 0.5 kVA draw the battery alone lasts about 18 hours; at 1.5 kVA about 6 hours.
Can I add more battery storage later?
Yes. The Blue Heeler MK II expands in 5 kWh steps up to 25 kWh using the ‘EX’ expansion unit, which also accepts an extra MPPT charge controller for more solar. Multiple Blue Heelers can also be paralleled together.
Is it really Australian made?
Yes – Maxxiom systems are designed and manufactured in Brisbane, Queensland, built on Victron power electronics and lithium battery modules, in a stainless steel cabinet made for Australian conditions.
Can it be installed outdoors?
Yes. The cabinet is IP55 rated with active controlled cooling, suitable for high-temperature locations – install it inside a garage or shed, or outside by the wall.
How do I monitor the system?
4G cellular remote monitoring is included for the first 12 months, so you can watch generation, usage and battery level from your phone anywhere. After that, renew the 4G plan, use your own Wi-Fi, or add the Peer-to-Peer Wireless Display for monitoring with no internet at all.
What warranty does it come with?
Five years on the power equipment and ten years on the battery. Maxxiom is an Australian manufacturer, so support and parts come from our Brisbane workshop, not an overseas importer.
What does installation involve?
The system arrives pre-assembled and factory-tested. A licensed electrician hard-wires it to your building’s distribution board and connects the solar array – typically well under a day on site. We can arrange full installation and commissioning in our service areas.
Do you supply to government, councils and large organisations?
Yes. Maxxiom delivers to councils, government agencies, Tier 1 contractors and large operators, with the documentation procurement needs: capability statement, quality management system, environmental statement, battery emergency response plan, SWMS and risk assessments, plus engineering documentation and commissioning reports. Can you supply multiple units for a community or multi-site project?
Yes, and it is often the better engineering answer. For the Langarra community in the Northern Territory we supplied ten Blue Heeler MK II units instead of one large centralised system – which removed the need for cranes and barges, came in under budget, and means servicing one unit never takes the whole community offline. Each unit is GPS-tracked with 4G monitoring so a fleet can be managed remotely.
