How does a flexible panel compare with a rigid one?
Same job, different trade-offs. This one is 3 mm thin and 3.3 kg with 22% monocrystalline cells, and it bends to fit curved surfaces with adhesive mounting – no frame or racking. A rigid framed panel is heavier and needs mounting hardware, but is the usual choice for a large permanent ground or roof array.
What can I stick it to?
Flat or gently curved surfaces that are clean, sound and stable – a van or caravan roof, a cabin, a container. Surface preparation matters for adhesion, so talk to us about your surface if you are unsure.
How many do I need for a Kelpie Portable?
Depends on how fast you want to recharge. The Kelpie Portable accepts up to 3,520 W of solar, so multiple panels can be combined. Our technical team can advise on a combination for your usage.
Is it as efficient as a normal panel?
Its cells run at 22% efficiency, which is competitive. The practical difference is total output per panel: at 210 W it produces less than a 440-510 W rigid panel, so you need more of them for the same array size – the trade you make for the weight and flexibility.
Can I walk on it?
No – treat it as you would any solar panel. It is flexible for mounting to curves, not for foot traffic.

Will it work with my existing solar setup?

Is it suitable for a permanent off-grid home array?
Usually not the best choice. For a fixed home array we would specify rigid 440-510 W panels on an engineered mount – fewer panels, less installation labour, easier servicing. The flexible panel shines on vehicles, curves and portable use.
Can I remove it later?
It is designed as a non-permanent, adhesive-mounted installation. How cleanly it comes off depends on the adhesive and surface used.
